Thanks so much for the (shortly considered) information in episode 270
(2018-10-31)!
Of course, there's (by default) an English output on the pre-sale
website (As we now know, that Benedict was identified as German through
metadata)
the spontanous passing on of this information occurred as a result of
the pre-sale being available on only three key dates. The first date was
2018-11-08 12:00 PM (CET). The last chance to buy a ticket is 2018-11-21
9:00 PM (CET)
Once again, without ruffle or excitement:

The Chaos Communication Congress is a huge, annual event of the Chaos
Computer Club.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_Communication_Congress
It's taking place for the 35th time, again from December 27 until
December 30 this year.
For the second time, the 35C3 is located in the Leipzig Trade Fair. The
Congress is going to be giant again. (The previous years there were over
10,000 tickets available and they were quickly sold out.)
On one hand, there are high-quality talks (mostly in English),
(Almost) all talks are recorded
https://media.ccc.de/b/congress
Here's a little treat from last year (34C3)
https://media.ccc.de/v/34c3-8968-are_all_bsds_created_equally
On the other hand, there's a hack center - actually it's the entire
Congress - that brings all kinds of different groups together. Usually
it's a project initiative, that signed up as assembly.
Needless to say, the main topic - operating systems - is constantly
present. People meet up between Christmas and New Years Eve, they
exchange knowledge, experiences and information and of course hack.
The last two years there again was an assembly for BSD. Such a
phenomenal event for hacking needs a gathering point for UNIX & Co.
There wasn't a big announcement for 33C3, but unexpectedly many people
participated, whereas the planning for the BSD assembly was only
moderate. That caused a permanent coming and going. (Sorry!)
This year, it shall be another big gathering for everyone concerning
BSD. Primarily, the main focus is on FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD and
DragonFly BSD. Everything that happens around it all shall be there as well.
Besides, every other open operating systems that are based on UNIX&Co or
share another technology with us, are invited. Last year, for example,
there were quite a few people joing us from SmartOS and OpenIndiana.
Also, people from Debian GNU/kFreeBSD were there.
Despite the name, the assembly is supposed to be open. Gladly, we are
willing to be a settling place for other "exotic" systems. For example
interested people around the topic succession of Plan 9 (especially 9P)
or Haiku (perhaps regarding the topic WiFi driver) shall get a place
with us.
There are enough topics to hack and talk about. At last, everyone shall
simply have a nice time with UNIX & Co as an enchanting assembly.
Please, feel invited!
The access to get tickets is very limited. There are 3 public dates,
where one can officially purchase a ticket.
2018-11-08 12:00 PM (CET)
2018-11-11 02:00 PM (CET)
2018-11-21 09:00 PM (CET)
The standard tickets are relatively cheap. Gladly, you can - if you want
to - also pay a higher amount. Those, who even cannot afford a standard
ticket, can get in touch with the organization of the Congress.
If someone didn't get a ticket, or if someone has a ticket to pass on to
someone else, can get in touch (if necessary send a mail to vater@c3d2.de)
vater@c3d2.de just created a site in the wiki of the local hackspace,
where one can organize.
https://wiki.c3d2.de/35C3/Assembly:BSD
Gladly, foundations and other BSD promoting organizations can (or shall)
get in touch to support the assembly. It starts with merchandise for the
projects, followed by huge things presenting *BSD and ends with the
offer of financial support for us (without asking something certain in
return). Everything for BSD, everything for the community!
BTW: the proclaimed motto is "…the place for you…*NIX!".
Yes, it's a unixed modification of the (former) quote that was said at
the beginning of BSD Now "The place to be … S D!" by Kris Moore.
The Congress shall - like at FOSDEM - a place for the annual meeting for
BSD.
