Hi Guys, I'm in the process of setting up a FreeBSD file server. The system is five years old and has an incomplete UEFI implementation that FreeBSD doesn't like, so I'm stuck with an MBR install. I've noticed that the installer creates a separate boot pool when performing a root-on-ZFS MBR install. This breaks boot environments, which I'd really like to use. What is the reason for having a separate boot pool? Is there any reason I couldn't do a manual root-on-ZFS install to a single pool? Thanks!
