Hi Allan, Benedict,

Thanks for doing the BSD Now podcast each week. Always interesting and I always learn something! You requested questions, so here is one… :)

Several years ago a career change caused me to start using Windows and macOS after more-or-less exclusively running Linux for years. I was very surprised to find both these commercial operating systems were missing things I had taken for granted. For example, I didn’t expect to find that neither have a built-in package manager. This has been standard on every Linux distro for so many years that when people previously asked me about the benefits of Linux, it never even occurred to me to mention this. Have you had any similar experiences when being forced to use non-BSD operating systems? I.e. are there killer features of the BSDs that are so common as to be mundane and not something you recognize until you’re forced to work without it?

Thanks,
Matt
