Hi Benedict and Allan,

I’ve been listening to the podcast for about a year or so, and I’ve heard you mention Tarsnap on multiple occasions. I’d been with Crashplan until recently, but they decided to pull the plug on the Home-tier of their backup service. Well, now that I have some pain to endure to switch to someone else, I figured I might as well check out Tarsnap. I was suspicious that the syntax was close to bsdtar, but I believe it now! I got it installed and configured for my FreeNAS box, even made a nice script that emails me status reports at the end of the backup. What more do I need??? All I wanted before was a no-frills backup, and at least Tarsnap does not rely on bloated Java to make things run! That’s one Bhyve VM I can kill now…

Thanks a million for promoting this great product!

Regards,
Seth
